This is a preliminary announcement for the 5th annual Vespucci Summer 
Institute on Geographic Information Science, Fiesole (Firenze) Italy. Full 
details will become available soon, at www.vespucci.org. 

The Vespucci Institutes are special events, offering quality-time to think, 
debate, and work in groups on these two key topics in the GIS/SDI field. 
Attendance is open to researchers of all flavours: academic, industry, public 
sector, other…

Week 1 (11-15 June, 2007): Spatial Ontology - features Prof. Nicola Guarino 
Week 2 (16-20 July 2007): Spatial Data Infrastructures: young researchers
forum - features a focus on concrete progress to be published in
the new International Journal of SDI Research, http://ijsdir.jrc.it/.

European Commission DG Joint Research Centre (JRC) will provide 12
*partial* grants, covering all expenses *except* travel, to young researchers.
The US National Science Foundation is offering 12 more:
