How will INSPIRE Directive affect existing national legislation? Stefan Björkhammar (National Land Survey Sweden), in his presentation at the Nordic GIS Conference (1-3 October 2007), discussed the challenge of bringing the INSPIRE Directive into existing legislation in Sweden. In Swedish legislation, there are almost no direct regulations on spatial information. However, for many issues, there are regulations for other aims/purposes, often general, which could cover the obligations in the Directive in an indirect way. Still, a general law on infrastructure for spatial information is proposed.
