Kate,
We just launched a MSc. Geomatics starting this September. At the same time the MSc Geoinformation and Land Management will disappear.
The new one focuses more on the technical side: GPS, GIS, LBS, but also a course spatial information management addressing the SDI from organizational (eg. SDI development/ organisational development), and data policy (IPR, contracts, privacy, FOIA) perspectives. More information is available from: <http://www.geomatics.tudelft.nl/> http://www.geomatics.tudelft.nl/

Torsten,
Thank you for more links to SDI course examples.
I meant to summarize the results I received back in January... guess that got away from me. I did receive replies from several people. So, thank you's are in order to Dave Coleman, Michael Gould, and Bastiaan van Loenen.
Michael Gould provided these links and said for 2005 his group have an extended contract to put the course on-line -- in English and Spanish
http://edugi.uji.es/Gould/Gould.htm ; http://edugi.uji.es <http://edugi.uji.es/>
Dave Coleman said that the University of New Brunswick covers SDI-related topics in at least three GIS courses in the Geomatics Engineering program
http://gge.unb.ca/HomePage.php3
GGE 4403 Geographic Information Systems - Introduction to Metadata and Web-based GIS
GGE 5413 Advanced Topics in Digital Mapping - Topics in Web-based GIS Architecture, Interoperability Standards
GGE 6501 Land Information Management I - Policy and Economic Issues within a spatial data infrastructure.
UNB also has directed studies and seminar-based courses at the post-graduate level that deal with specific SDI-related topics on occasion. Also, land administration & cadastre-related topics are taught in 2-3 other undergraduate courses beyond this.
Bastiaan van Loenen pointed out that in the Netherlands, the universities of Delft, Utrecht, Wageningen and ITC together provide the Geographical information management and applications MSc.
http://www.msc-gima.nl/introductionprogramme.htm
One of the modules (number 3: see http://www.msc-gima.nl/module3.htm) is fully dedicated to SDI.
Further, at Delft University of Technology, they address SDI and SDI related topics as access to geographic information, privacy, framework datasets, standards, organisational issues, funding, etc in the Spatial information management course of the MSc program Geo-information and Land mangement. This is one course leading to a MSc of geodetic engineering. For the this program, students may do their MSc thesis focusing on the SDI or SDI- issues.

Dear Kate,
I just read your mail concerning the request for SDI course examples in the
SDI-NorthAmerica list-archive. I was (and still am) also looking for examples
as I will try to prepare a short online module about SDIs. So I wondered if
you have some updated information about SDI courses or materials? Or anything
else which might be of interest for me?
Thanks for your information,
Torsten Heinen

[GSDI Legal Econ] SDI in university taught courses - request for examples

* apologies for cross-posting to GSDI discussion lists * but this question is pertinent to a number of the lists
To what extent and in what way are SDI concepts and components being integrated into university degree programs (geography, planning, civil engineering, environmental, etc.)?
How are these courses structured? What SDI elements do they include? Are they part of the basic curriculum or are they special short courses?
The links below are a few instances of university-level SDI courses or short-courses.
If you can suggest other courses, please do (please provide link to syllabus or course description). [The courses needn't cover all aspects -- i.e., suggestions are welcome for courses - or classes - that introduce just a component, e.g., metadata].
If people respond, then hopefully the GSDI Secretariart will prepare a synthesis and include it at the GSDI website.
