[GSDI Legal Econ] Swiss federal law on geo-information (GeoIG)

I sent this message to the SDI-Europe list a week or so ago, but perhaps some on the Legal-Econ List might also be interested, since the list membership is different.  The translation from Swiss-German to English may need some work, but the gist of the matter, I hope, is clear... (a copy of the law is available in French).

New Swiss federal law on geo-information (GeoIG) - Loi (Suisse) sur la géoinformation (LGéo)
During its session on September 6, 2006, the Swiss Federal Council noted the result of the consultation process concerning the new federal law on geo-information (GeoIG), passed the law, and forwarded it to the Federal Assembly. After the National Council, also the Council of States approved the new federal law on geo-information. During winter session 2007, small differences (discrepancies) still need to be resolved. So the law most probably will come into effect by July 1, 2008. At the same time, several regulations related to the geo-information law will come into effect. The regulation regarding the land register for public-legal ownership restrictions is presently developed and should become effective in 2009. 

Der Bundesrat hat an seiner Sitzung vom 6. September 2006 das Ergebnis des Vernehmlassungsverfahren zum neuen Bundesgesetz über Geoinformation zur Kenntnis genommen und die Botschaft zuhanden der Eidg. Räte verabschiedet. Nach dem Nationalrat hat auch der Ständerat das neue Bundesgesetz über Geoinformation (GeoIG) gutgeheissen. In der Wintersession 2007 müssen noch kleine Differenzen bereinigt werden. Damit wird das Gesetz voraussichtlich auf den 1. Juli 2008 in Kraft treten. Gleichzeitig werden auch mehrere Verordnungen zum Geoinformationsgesetz in Kraft treten. Die Verordnung über den Kataster der öffentlich-rechtlichen Eigentumsbeschränkungen wird zurzeit erarbeitet und dürfte auf 2009 in Kraft treten.
