[GSDI Legal Econ] FW: Stratégie canadienne sur l'information numérique / Canadian Digital Information Strategy

A new document on the preservation, management and dissemination of 
data. There is content on geomatics and science data and it would be 
fantastic if reflexive and critical comments and responses to this 
document could be submitted from Canadian and International 
organizations who have experience in this area - Science and Geomatics 
and SDI. The strategy and the document can only get better if there is a 
broad set of eyes critically reading, evaluating and commenting.

An argument has been made that SDI model couls be emulated for the 
implementation of such a strategy. Why reinvent the wheel when a model 
can be augmented, extended and used in a different context. The argument 
is not obvious in this document. There is a divide between heritage and 
culture institutions and science based institutions. Heritage and 
culture prevail and science and geomatics are viewed as small specialty 
subjects. The term data itself at times seems to frighten some communities.
