Senior Scientist, Livestock systems Evolution, Nairobi, Kenya with frequent travel to areas where there are ILRI activities
International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a Senior Scientist to lead its multi-disciplinary project on Livestock Systems Evolution within Targeting Research & Developing Opportunities Theme. This research area examines socio-economic and natural resource drivers of livestock system evolution as a basis for setting priorities and targeting livestock-based interventions to alleviate poverty while protecting the environment. The specific duties will include: a) Providing leadership for initiating and implementing research on trends in livestock systems evolution and their consequences in developing countries; b) Undertaking research in one or more areas relating to livestock systems evolution or modelling livestock system changes; c) Coordinating inputs from the project to ILRIâs strategy and its implementation and facilitating interaction with other ILRI Themes and a range of research and development partners. d) Providing leadership for the
projectâs work plans, monitoring budget, resource mobilization, training, partnerships, and outreach.
Required competencies include experience with applied systems research at global and/or local levels and in application of spatial tools such as GIS and remote sensing to inform practical decision making.
