    CESVI - Cooperazione e Sviluppo Onlus (CESVI) 's work in Mali started in 2000 with a small project that aimed at building wells and promoting income-generating activities for women living in the villages surrounding the capital Bamako. Currently, CESVI is implementing a project that addresses the desertification in the region of Gao and aims at improving the management and distribution of resources in the community and providing support to the cooperation activities across the borders with Burkina Faso and Niger. The GIS Expert will develop the architecture of the GIS and will be responsible to identify the necessary equipment needed to allow the local and expatriate staff to use the system. Specific tasks include:
Planning of first-year activities
Analysis of GIS systems already developed in the areas near the site of the project
Selection of the GIS system
Development of the architectural structure of the GIS systemIdentification of the information that must be tracked with the GIS system
Creation of files for data collectionIdentification of the role of local and expatriate staff in regard to data collection and implementation
Training of the coordinator and local staff according to their data responsibilities  The collaboration will start in August 2006.
