GIMS 2007 Map Competition
Leading up to the GIMS User Conference, which will be held 1-3 October 2007 in Johannesburg, GIMS, http://www.gims.com/, is calling on individuals to participate in the 2007 Map Competition. There are four competition categories – presentation, content, thematic maps, and natural resources and utilities.
The competition is open to all individuals, groups of individuals, private companies, government agencies and academic institutions within southern Africa. Entries must have been completed between 1 January 2006 to 1 September 2007 and can only be entered for one category. However, there is no limit to the number of entries a particular entrant can submit. Entries will be judged based on: the degree to which sound principles and cartographic design have been employed to create a product that effectively communicates spatial information to the user; the extent to which the product exhibits an innovative solution to the problem being addressed; the degree to which the map meets it stated design objectives; and the user friendliness of the map.
Maps need to be delivered to GIMS offices in Midrand by 1 September 2007.
