The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) Global Research Division has the following Post Doctoral Fellow positions.  Applications will be accepted until 4 March 2007 or until the positions are filled.

Post Doctoral Fellow – Remote Sensing, Colombo, Sri Lanka 
Qualifications: PhD in remote sensing/GIS, modeling, engineering, natural resources, or a related relevant subject. Considerable experience in spatial data handling, analysis. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in applications of remote sensing/GIS in natural and/or water resources studies, agriculture, planning, and knowledge base development. Proficiency in image processing software packages, such as ERDAS and/or ERMapper and/or ENVI as well as ARCGIS and Arcview. Excellent skills and knowledge in handling remote sensing datasets such as MODIS, AVHRR, Landsat, ASTER, Hyperion, IRS, IKONOS.

Post Doctoral Fellow – Landscape Ecologist, Colombo, Sri Lanka 
Qualifications: A Ph.D in Terrestrial, or Landscape Ecology, Forest Hydrology, or other Land Use Change related discipline. Demonstrated previous experience in regional or global land use change research
and modeling is required. Experience in geospatial modeling, including regional to global scale application of carbon and growth models and/or ecohydrological analysis required. Strong background in terrestrial and/or landscape ecology, forestry, plant science, ecohydrology, carbon and water cycling, biometeorology, and broad knowledge of ecosystem science. 
Computer literacy, with spatial modeling, programming, and database skills, and strong GIS and remote sensing skills. A record of peerreviewed publications in the field of landscape or terrestrial ecology, ecohydrology, and/or global change is a major advantage. Experience working with remote sensing and spatial analysis methods to scale up biological process models, and familiarity with large datasets. Familiarity with recent advances in remote sensing of the environment, i.e. MODIS, and global and land use change modeling. Previous working experience in developing countries is an advantage.

Post Doctoral Fellow – Transboundary Water Management (Sri Lanka/Africa)
Qualifications :PhD in field closely allied with transboundary water management, economics, cooperation or law. In exceptional cases, a master’s or equivalent degree and demonstrated knowledge of relevant issues will be considered.

Post Doctorial Fellow – Hydrology (Sri Lanka/Ethiopia)
Qualifications :A PhD in Hydrology or Water Resources.A record of peer-reviewed publications in the field of surface hydrology with an emphasis on hydrological predictions will be a major advantage. Good command of both oral and written English. Experience in programming and website management Previous work experience in developing countries will be an advantage.
