South African Biodiversity Information Facility (SABIF) Coordinator, Cape Town, South Africa
A motivated, energetic person is required to co-ordinate the SABIF project The South African Node of the Global Biodiversity Information Facility. The project seeks to improve the management and accessibility of a wide variety of biodiversity information. The appointee will take responsibility for: promoting the sharing of data under common standards; securing the participation of biodiversity institutions in the sharing of data; contributing to capacity development for promoting access; collaborating on national and international initiatives; reporting to the SABIF Steering Committee; general project, staff and financial management.

Starting April 2007 for 2 years
A bursary is available for a black South African with good university grades and a lot of enthusiasm and initiative. The bursary is valued at R40 000,00 per annum for two years, from which your university fees must be paid. The successful student will be assisted with applying for a research grant for running expenses as part of your training. Deadline: 23 March 2007.
