Project Leader, African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF), Nairobi, Kenya
The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is an African-led not-for-profit international organization designed to facilitate and promote public/private partnerships for the access and delivery of appropriate proprietary agricultural technologies for use by resource-poor farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa.
AATF is coordinating a new public-private partnership that has been formed in response to a growing call by African farmers, leaders, and scientists to address the devastating effects of drought. This project, Water Efficient Maize for Africa (WEMA, http://www.aatf-africa.org/newsdetail.php?newsid=95 ) will involve scientists in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and South Africa, The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), Monsanto and AATF, working in close collaboration over an initial period of five years. WEMA is funded (c. $47.00 m) by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and by the Howard G. Buffet Foundation.
AATF seeks an exceptionally gifted Project Leader who will ensure that all the needed project contributions dovetail seamlessly and that this crucial work is a success. He or she will have managed complex projects, exemplifying modern practices, and will have what it takes to work across organizations, countries and cultures. Whether coordinating without directing, anticipating challenges or opportunities, or problem-solving innovatively, the successful candidate will be motivated to make a difference -- and have a track record of doing so.
The selected candidate, from Sub-Saharan Africa, may currently be working on an international project in Africa -- while feeling that it is time to take on a different, or perhaps more demanding, opportunity -- or he/she may be working abroad while scanning for a chance to bring back to Africa a unique set of directly-relevant superior skills, experiences and personal attributes.
If this interests you, and you believe you meet the requirements of leading such a large and complex project, you are invited to visit the AATF web site (www.aatf-africa.org) for more information and email your resume (if possible before April 21) and no more than a two-page cover letter citing your suitability to the firm that has been retained to handle this recruitment:

Note: Only those who come closest to AATF needs may expect to hear from OHMC (within 5 working days of their submission).
