Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), an international non-governmental
organization, is seeking qualified and motivated applicants for the
position of GIS & NRM Technical Expert
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain databases and provide cartographic products for the
Government of Southern Sudan (GOSS) Natural Resource Management Group
(NRMG) and WCS, provide technical assistance and support to the NRMG
technical committee workshops, meetings and field work, maintain and
update land-use information, provide training and support in spatial data,
data preparation, GIS and cartography to national staff, promote awareness
and understanding amongst the NRMG members of the importance and
application of spatial information to natural resource policy, work with
the WCS-Southern Sudan GIS Coordinator to provide GIS and data-basing
support to promote sustainable natural resource management in Southern
Sudan.
Qualifications
Qualifications for this position are a PhD or Master's degree in natural
resource management, GIS/Spatial analyses, land use planning, or related
field. Experience applying GIS and using spatial methods on land
management, conservation, and natural resource management issues in
Africa. Experience and ability to work with national and local
organizations required. Proven ability to work well in a team
in multi-cultural situations and under difficult field conditions is
essential. Fluency in written and spoken English required.
