The Geo-Information Society of South Africa (GISSA, http://www.gissa.org.za ) - Western Cape is hosting an annual GIS Week, 15-19 March 2010, University of the Western Cape
The event is aimed educating learners, education, and the general public in science and practical uses of GIS, and to affect them the opportunity to meet people in the industry and view functional GIS applications.
The event will include: an Exhibition of GIS related projects, a GIS lecture, a hands-on GIS tutorial in the computer laboratory, as well as a field activity (organized by the South African Geomatics Institute) where learners will be exposed to the use of a total station, GPS unit, and a distometer.
