[SDI-Africa] Converting Google Earth KML file to shapefile using DNR Garmin

Dear all, Please I am looking for some way to export Google Earth Kml file to shape file using DNR Garmin.
I ahve actually tried this several times and this error message keep coming " Error 111: Y_proj and X_proj fields must conatin valid values. Please set Y_proj and X_proj values and try again" Surely, I haee set the projection and not sure why this keep coming up.
I am a youg GIS and Remote Sensing scientist currently based in Sierra Leone.
