The GIS/MIS Intern will be responsible for:
A. Supporting the maintenance of a global database for the consolidation of all project-related, assessment-related and GIS data at the capital level
Support the GIS Manager and the Database Coordinator in maintaining the global database and geodatabse for all REACH activities within country
Support the collection and management of spatial datasets, and verify and update collected data at capital level
Monitor the accuracy of collected data
Support GIS activities
• Propose new technical solutions
• Respond to information requests from GIS Manager and REACH Focal Point
 
B. Technical Support to the Database teams
• Communicate with database teams to ensure accuracy of collected data
• Provide technical backstopping to database teams
• Provide capacity-building to database teams
 
C. Regular interactions for reporting and data management with REACH GIS Manager, REACH Focal Point and projects partners
• Support the development of joint database tools and processes with REACH partners in country
• Respond to information requests from REACH/ACTED partners
• Support the collection of spatial datasets and integration with REACH activities in all ACTED/REACH bases
 
D. Producing and providing maps for stakeholders
• Participate in development of GIS tools
• Produce REACH projects related maps (at a capital level), as well as requested maps coming from the main key stakeholders.
• Monitor project-level geodatabases to ensure appropriate data sharing and capitalization
 
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Geographic Information System or in relevant discipline. Master preferable
Mandatory knowledge in database and general computer software (such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Access)
Ability to think creatively in terms of tool and process development
Ability to travel to the field
Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing needs and responsibilities
Flexibility in working extra hours
Strong commitment to the mission and organizational culture of ACTED/REACH
Oral and written English skills
