FRAME will be conducting a workshop on decision making tools for natural resources management in conjunction with the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Organization’s 9th plenary meeting, Spatial Information: Tools for reducing poverty, in Santiago, Chile (http://www.gsdi9.cl/).

FRAME will sponsor a small delegation to meet in Chile and participate in a one day workshop to share information on different approaches used to assess changes in natural resources over time and evaluate the impacts of various management and policy regimes. FRAME will also be hosting a technical, 90 minute session as part of the main conference to discuss this theme and invite feedback from the wider GSDI audience of international policymakers and development practitioners.

To participate in this workshop you must submit a short proposal (1-2 pages) outlining your current work with tools that measure impacts on the environment and natural resources. These may include but are not limited to: statistical; simulation; or spatial modeling. Please clearly explain the objectives of the research; the analytical tools used, the data gathered to date and impacts of your work on the resource base and on policy in your final proposal.

If you are selected to participate in the USAID/FRAME workshop and GSDI-9 conference, FRAME will cover the costs of the meetings, travel and per diem expenses for the duration of the program.

Please submit all proposals to Lauren Sorkin at lsorkin at irgltd.com no later than September 5, 2006
