Last year, notices were sent out to the GSDI discussion and mailing lists encouraging colleagues to participate in the NOAA-sponsored remote sensing market research study which covered issues related to eight sectors of the remote sensing market: aerial film, aerial digital, aerial sensors, satellites, commercial end users, value added hardware and software, academic, and government. The results are now available at: http://www.licensing.noaa.gov/SurveyAnalysis.pdf
This summary report identifies technical trends in the industry, satellite sector trends, and government and political trends. It also discusses the future of remotely sensed software products, revenues, types of data, and applications/uses of satellite data.
The results reflect only a small portion of the data analyzed and the remaining data is available for further analysis.
NOAA will be extending this survey shortly to collect in-depth information about the Asian market.
