3 UN Volunteer Census Mapping (Cartographer/GIS) Specialists for UNFPA, Afghanistan
The UNV volunteers will provide on-site field mapping support for the team of census enumeration area delineators from the Afghanistan Central Statistics Office that are involved in demarcating the 34 provinces and 398 districts of Afghanistan into unique census enumeration areas prior to the conduct of the 2008 population and housing census for Afghanistan. The UNV volunteers will in addition undertake the quality control checks to ensure that the census enumeration area maps delineated from the field are accurate and they will also conduct training for Central Statistics Office (CSO) staff on automated cartography drafting skills needed for the automated reproduction of the enumeration area maps. The UNV volunteers will coordinate all the census enumeration area mapping activities at the regional level. 
The UNV volunteers will liaise with CSO staff to ensure the full implementation of the pre-census enumeration area mapping directions given by the UNFPA Census Mapping Expert and report to the Census Technical Group in respect of all logistics requirement for the successful conduct of the pre-census field work component.

A 6-month contract (with possiblity of extension); volunteer living allowance (VLA), intended to cover housing, basic needs and utilities, equivalent to US$ 2,024 for single person, US$ 2,274 for person with one dependant, and US$ 2,474 for person with two or more dependants; hazard pay; settling-in-grant; life, health, and permanent disability insurance; return airfares; resettlement allowance of US$ 150 per month of satisfactory service.
