Assistant Coordinator, Indigenous Peoples and Protected Areas: a Collaborative Management Learning Network in Southeast Asia
The Collaborative Management Learning Network (CMLN) was established to implement and exchange experiences of co-management in protected areas between 7 pilot learning sites in 7 countries of South East Asia. These countries include Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. The overall objective of this initiative is to promote and strengthen collaborative approaches in the management of protected areas in Southeast Asia where indigenous peoples live. This project is implemented in phases, with the Inception Phase completed. Phase 1 began on July 1, 2006 and will end on June 30, 2008. Phase 2 will involve building capacity and spreading co-management processes and experiences in each of the 7 participating countries. In Phase I, a network of practitioners are working towards (1) Supporting CM practice in relevant field-based initiatives in the selected sites in each participating country; (2) Enhancing capabilities to develop and maintain
collaborative management practices (policies, processes, agreements and institutions) among stakeholders in the selected sites; and (3) Enhancing understanding, awareness and recognition of CM practices in the selected sites and beyond. The CMLN Project wishes to hire an Assistant Coordinator who will be based at the AIPP Secretariat in Chiang Mai, Thailand and will receive guidance from the Regional Project Coordinator. Applications must be submitted by 15 July 2007. For full application instructions, contact Grazia Borrini-Feyerabend (gbf at cenesta.org) and Christian Erni (ce at iwgia.org).
