The Centre for Poverty Analysis would like to invite interested researchers 
and development practitioners to submit papers for presentation at the 
upcoming Annual Symposium on Poverty Research in Sri Lanka to be held in 
Colombo on 29th and 30th November 2007. 
There have been numerous efforts in Sri Lanka to increase and improve the 
generation of information on poverty, but insufficient emphasis has been 
placed on the effective dissemination and use of research to influence 
change. This year's symposium aims to explore examples and tools for 
effective communication of research, and discuss how evidence can be used to 
influence policy and practices which impact on poverty. Authors are invited 
to send a paper abstract, or concept for a poster or cartoon to the 
organisers on or before 31st July 2007 on topics relating to the themes 
below: 
-       Facilitating better communication amongst researchers 
-       Ensuring more effective use of research by policymakers and 
development practitioners 
-       Undertaking and promoting South-South dialogue 
-       The politics of communication and influence
