Call for papers: "High-spatial resolution remote sensing for environmental monitoring and management" Special Issue of the Journal of Spatial Science ( http://www.mappingsciences.org.au/journal.htm ) -- (formerly Cartography and The Australian Surveyor & Geomatics Research Australasia)

An increasing number of high-spatial resolution airborne and satellite digital image sources are now available, and information extraction approaches developed for these data are now being used across a wide range of applications. To draw together the leading work in this area and present an assessment of what is possible from these data sets and mapping approaches, a special issue of the Journal of Spatial Science will be published in June  2008. The Journal now is seeking extended abstracts for potential papers to appear in the special issue. The abstracts should be < 400 words, and describe completed or soon to be completed work which uses high-spatial resolution (pixels < 5.0 m), multi-spectral airborne or satellite images for environmental mapping, monitoring and management applications. Preference will be given to papers which focus on monitoring and management.  Please include a potential list of authors and nominate the corresponding author.
 Abstracts should be submitted by October 12 2007 to s.phinn at uq.edu.au  
 
The Special Issue editors and remote sensing editors will review the abstracts and then invite the most suited papers to be submitted in full. The submitted papers must meet the structure, content and format requirements of the journal ( http://www.mappingsciences.org.au/downloads/JSSGuidelines.pdf  ) and will be reviewed using the journal's standard process. The time-table for the processes is outlined below.
12 October 2007 - Abstracts due to guest editors
26 October 2007 - Notification of papers to be invited
21 December 2008 - Final Due Date for Manuscript Submission 
08 January 2008 - Guest Editors to Send to Referees for Review
08 February 2008 - Referees to Return Comments to Guest Editors
15 February 2008 - Guest Editors Select papers for Publication and Send Review Comments to Authors
14  March 2008 - Authors to Submit Revised Paper to Guest Editors
31 March 2008 - Final Papers To Journal Editor
