Topographic data for Abu Dhabi municipality
The GIS Database Enhancement Project is one of many ongoing projects at the Department of Municipal Affairs-Abu Dhabi. Its aim is to provide up-to-date topographic digital large-scale base map information for developed areas of Abu Dhabi Region and the Western Region, mainly for the areas where such maps did not exist before. Base map details, such as buildings, roads, green areas, and coastline, are needed by nearly every municipal office, as well as by utilities and other government agencies, along with companies working within the Emirate’s cities, towns, and villages. Also the project will update basemap data for Abu Dhabi Island, which was last updated in 2000, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008.
