Consultative seminar - Formulation of the information strategy for the agriculture sector of Ukraine
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A consultative seminar on “Formulation of the Information Strategy for the Agriculture Sector of Ukraine” was jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine (MAPU) and the National Agricultural University of Ukraine from 30 May to 2 June 2006 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
The seminar was conducted within the framework of the Technical Cooperation Project “Strategy formulation and capacity building in support of an agricultural information system” that is supported by FAO. The purpose of the seminar was to bring together major stakeholders of the Ukrainian agricultural sector, including state authorities and institutions, and non-governmental and private organizations for an information exchange, and an assessment of information and communication needs of participant organizations. The seminar focused on the formulation of the strategy and the elaboration of a work plan for its implementation, as well as for the identification of key elements for a follow-up project. A needs assessment study with recommendations and a draft information strategy were prepared, in English and Ukrainian, as input documents for the seminar.
