GIS Program Manager, CH2M HILL, Seoul, Korea (duration: 3-5 years)
The GIS Program Manager will take the lead role for successful project management and execution of surveying, mapping and GIS projects and/or tasks. Will be responsible for working with project engineers to determine their geospatial information and technology needs. May develop or coordinate scope language and cost estimates for surveying, mapping and GIS tasks. Will manage projects but is also responsible for performing some technical tasks, and delivering work. The successful candidate will be required to bring the necessary skills to the project as well as participate in business development activities. Specific responsibilities include working as a high level technical expert in design, development, implementation, and testing of geospatial data and technologies. Must be competent to work on all phases of GIS projects. Must have the ability to manage and mentor junior staff.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: BA/BS in Geography, Cartography, Planning, Natural Resources, Engineering or GIS related field
Years of Experience: 7 years
Primary Skills: Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills. Experience with mapping, surveying, and GIS applications for Planning, Transportation, Site Design, Environmental Management, Security, Telecommunications, and Utilities at US military installations. Good presentation, writing and speaking skills. Experience using geospatial information and technologies on engineering discipline projects. Ability to network within an organization and educate co-workers about the capabilities and applications of surveying, mapping and GIS. Experience with ESRI software, specifically the ArcGIS suite (Desktop and Server products). Experience with GIS data conversion/editing, GIS map production, spatial database management, spatial analysis/reporting tasks. Professional technical experience with designing, creating, and maintaining enterprise wide GIS capabilities for numerous projects. Strong understanding of surveying, mapping, GIS concepts and
spatial and relational data. Experience and desire to perform business development both within and external to the organization.
Preferred qualifications:
Education: MS in Geography, Cartography, Planning, Natural Resources, Engineering or GIS related field with an emphasis or certificate in GIS
Years of Experience: 10 years
Primary Skills: Experience with mapping, surveying, and GIS applications for Planning, Transportation, Site Design, Environmental Management, Security, Telecommunications, and Utilities at US military installations. Good presentation, writing and speaking skills. Experience using geospatial information and technologies on any engineering discipline project. Experience using imagery, maps and GIS on construction activities is a plus.
Secondary Skills: Attention to detail, strong QA/QC experience, ability to identify new GIS and IT project opportunities inside and outside the firm. Technical skills in CADD software, Google Earth/Maps, Virtual Earth, Skyline, GeoFusion, and relational databases like Oracle and MS SQL Server is a plus.
Soft Skills: Strong organizational, communication and writing skills, networking ability, positive/excited attitude.
