Assistant/Associate Professor in Geography and Urban Planning, United Arab Emirates University
The Department of Geography and Urban Planning at the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain (UAE) invites applications for positions at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor for the academic year 2008/2009. 
One position requires a specialist in climatology. The successful applicant must be able to teach undergraduate courses in climatology and general physical geography, and would also be expected to offer introductory courses in at least one of GIS, Remote Sensing, Cartography or Current Environmental Issues. The candidate may be required to teach an interdisciplinary course in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. 
The other positions are in the field of urban planning. Candidates for these should be capable of teaching undergraduate level courses in planning theory and practice, and land use. Preference will be given to those competent to teach introductory courses in GIS, Cartography or related fields. The recruit may be required to teach an interdisciplinary course in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. 

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline, and three years of university undergraduate teaching experience in a broad-based geography and urban planning department. In addition they should be able to demonstrate a good record of publication in peer-reviewed specialist journals, and an active or potential research agenda. The medium of instruction is English, and native or near native fluency in English is essential, as well the ability to utilize up-to-date teaching technologies and practices.
