GIS Mapping Positions (2), SPC Applied Geoscience and Technology Division 
(SOPAC), Suva, Fiji
Two GIS/mapping positions are open with SPC Applied Geoscience and Technology 
Division (SOPAC).  The purpose SOPAC is to ensure the earth sciences are 
utilised fully in order to fulfill the SPC Mission.  In the island context the 
earth sciences comprise geology, geophysics, oceanography and hydrology.

(A) 10 months Forest Mapping and Change Detection 
The candidate should have:
Some experience in forest or vegetation mapping;
Experience in image enhancement (image analysis software);
Mapping experience in GIS environment;

(B) 10 months Vegetation Mapping of Low Lying Islands 
The candidate should have:
Some experience in vegetation mapping;
Experience in image enhancement (image analysis software);
Mapping experience in GIS environment;
Experience in database handling;
