ISNET is organizing two events in 2011, details of which are appended. May we request you to kindly circulate information regarding the above events through SDI Asia-Pacific emails. COMSTECH -ISESCO Expert Meeting for Development of Data Sharing Platform and Technical Experience-sharing for Cost-effective Operation & Maintenance of National Satellite Earth Stations

12 - 15 July 2011; Islamabad, Pakistan 




The focus of the meeting will be discussion on activities of ground segments of remote sensing and communication satellites including communication with satellite; tasking and controlling of satellite; downloading of satellite telemetry; processing and archiving; backup procedures; and trouble shooting in case of operational problems.  

The meeting would cover, but will not be limited to, the following: 

  a.. Satellite data acquisition-principles and practices 
  b.. Multi-satellite processing software and catalogue databases 
  c.. Satellite programming and optimum tasking 
  d.. Geometric correction procedures - best practices 
  e.. Data archiving and web-based data dissemination 
  f.. Spatial Database Infrastructure (SDI) and Geo-portal 
  g.. DEM, terrain modeling and flythrough 
  h.. System architecture, design  and operational interfaces of a satellite ground station 
  i.. System architecture and design of a satellite earth station 
  j.. Operation and maintenance of fixed and mobile earth stations 
  k.. Link budget analysis - workshop 
  l.. Remote sensing satellite applications and services - potential use of EO data for disaster monitoring, mapping and other thematic applications 
  m.. communication satellite applications and services - satellite communications for tele-education, tele-health etc 
  n.. S-band Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TT&C) of low earth orbit satellites

ISNET / RJGC Workshop on Applications of Satellite Technology in Water Resources Management

18 - 22 September 2011; Amman, Jordan



The workshop would comprise presentations by participants, topic-specific lectures by experts and hands-on training which will focus on building capabilities in use of SRS techniques for water exploration. The main focus of the workshop is sharing of knowledge, experiences and update relevant OIC researchers on water resources exploration. 

 

Specific themes of the workshop: 

 

  a.. Ground and surface water exploration 
  b.. Environmental hydrology - fresh water, wetlands, coastal zone management, and impact of water resources management projects on environment 
  c.. Surface hydrology - flooding, irrigation and climate 
  d.. Ground water assessment and modeling techniques 
  e.. Precipitation and water vapours content measurement 
  f.. Glacier/snow water equivalent and ground water measurement 
  g.. Observation and quantification of water cycle components
