GENERAL INFORMATION

The Advanced Information Systems Laboratory (http://iaaa.cps.unizar.es) at the Aragón Institute for Engineering Research (http://i3a.unizar.es) of the University of Zaragoza (Zaragoza, Spain) is inviting applications for Ph.D. students in the area of GeoInformatics. The Laboratory performs multidisciplinary applied research in areas as Spatial Data Infrastructures, Geographic Information Systems, Location Based Services and Remote Sensing. 

PhD program goes through a Master in Informatics and Systems Engineering.

Requirements
1.- Bachelors degree. Computer science skills will be highly appreciated.
2.- High interest and excellent qualifications
3.- EU citizenship is a plus but not essential
4.- Good knowledge of English (and interest to learn Spanish)

Grants
The IAAA Lab. offers a number of grants for students. The grants starts at 13.200 €/year (which is sufficient to cover housing and living expenses). The grants are given for one year at a time, the continuation being conditional on progress made during the previous year (grants may also be yearly increased depending on the student performance). Maximum standard time is four years but it can be extended depending on the thesis topic. If the student already holds a fellowship from another institution, he can also ask for complimentary financial help.

Application Procedure
There are no specific application forms. Applicants should write a free-form letter to the Director of IAAA Lab., together with all enclosures required.

Applications should be sent by e-mail to i3a at unizar.es (with indication of fellowship reference)

Enclosures required for the application are: 
1. Curriculum vitae, including official qualifications certificate.
2. Two letters of recommendation with referees' full contact addresses 
3. Certificate of knowledge of English (if available)
4. Motivation letter
