Romania finds Kadaster a strategic partner in NSDI
The National Agency for Cadastre and Land Registration (NACLR) in Romania has substantial ambitions regarding land administration and providing access to land information. For NACLR, the Dutch Kadaster is a strategic partner helping them achieve their goals. One of the three projects in progress focuses on national spatial data infrastructure (NSDI).
Kadaster started in September 2007 with a project to give support to the establishment of a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI). NACLR recognised the importance of the development of NSDI and asked the EU for Twinning financing. The project will focus on the organisational structure that is needed to develop an NSDI, with attention for the required building stones such as an integrated GPS network, a national dataset
of digital orthophotos at scale 1:5,000, and a digital topographic database.
The intention is for Romania to make a considerable step forward in 2008 with the introduction of an NSDI initiative.
