6th VESPUCCI SUMMER INSTITUTE ON GI SCIENCE
 
9 – 20 June 2008 (two, 1-week sessions)
Tuscany, Italy

Week 1 (9-13 June):  “The Geo-sensor Web”
 
-          leaders include OGC Sensor spec editor Dr Mike Botts (Univ Alabama Huntsville), Prof. Antonio Camara (yDreams.com)
 
Week 2 (17-20 June): “GI Science supporting Virtual Globes”
 
-          leaders include Dr Gilberto Camara (director Brasil Space Research Institiute INPE), Ed Parsons (Google), Prof Mike Goodchild (U.California Santa Barbara)
 
Vespucci institute sessions are aimed at researchers from academia, government and industry. These are not basic tutorial (how-to) sessions; attendees are expected to bring experience and opinions to contribute to debates and group work exercises. Vespucci sessions mix junior and senior researchers, from around the world and from a wide diversity of fields, in a relaxing setting in which to live, work and recharge mental batteries.
