Attached is the July 2008 edition of the SALB project Newsletter. The newsletter provide a summary of the progress made with the 55 countries managed by the European node. 
The objective of the SALB project, launched in 2001 in the context of the United Nations Geographic Information Working Group (UNGIWG, http://www.unigwg.org/ ), is to provide the international community with a working platform for the collection, management, analysis, visualization and sharing of sub-national data down to the 2nd subnational level. http://www.who.int/whosis/database/gis/salb/salb_home.htm
