Team Leader Technical Assistance - Natural Resource Programme, St. Lucia
The government of Saint Lucia, with assistance from the European Union, wishes to rationalize the use of its scarce natural resources as the economy continues to diversify with a mix of economic activity particularly agriculture and tourism. As the economy diversifies there is increasing competition between the agricultural and tourism sectors for land and water resources, with both requiring that the land and rain forests are preserved for water catchments, while tourism is additionally dependent upon the preservation of Saint Luciaâs natural and beautiful rain forests and beaches.
The Natural Resources Programme aims to improve the management of Saint Lucia natural resources by building capacity and developing consensus on a collective vision for the efficient, sustainable and equitable use of the resources. The programme is expected to improve the legislative and policy framework and the effective planning, coordination and decision making system, to provide support for Natural Resource Assessment and empower community participation, and to manage an Environmental Management Fund. Additionally, the contract will provide long term technical assistance to the institution in charge of implementing the Natural Resource Programme. Send CV (UE format, max 4 pages) to Cristina Fernandez, Eptisa, cfernandez at eptisainternacional.es. Deadline: March 12, 2006.
