Director, Biodiversity Science Unit, Conservation International (to be based in one of the five tropical Andes countries: Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela). Candidates must have:
- 15 years experience, including 5 years in Latin America, of scientific research and the application of multi-disciplinary science to conservation and sustainable development.
- Expertise in synthesizing and analyzing multi-disciplinary scientific information.
- Up-to-date, general knowledge of ecological monitoring, modeling, GIS and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of Andes/Amazon biodiversity, biogeography and ecosystems, and preferably of marine ecosystems too.
- Connected with relevant scientific networks and able to build partnerships with a variety of scientific institutions and conservation/development managers.
- Track record of both peer-reviewed publications and achievements as a leader and innovator.
- Good team player and communicator.
- Competence in project management, monitoring, reporting and proposal writing.
- Fluent in Spanish and English, spoken and written.
- Willingness to travel extensively, mainly within the Andes region.
