Regional Director - CABI Caribbean and Latin America, Curepe, Trinidad
CABI is a not for profit organisation established in its current status by a UN intergovernmental treaty. It specialises in scientific publishing, research and communication to solve problems in agriculture and the environment. The Regional Centre covers the Caribbean and Latin America region, within which member countries are: Bahamas, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago and several UK Overseas Territories in the Caribbean.
The Regional Director will lead CABI's growth and development across the region, establishing goals, objectives and a long-term strategic plan to meet the goals. In addition, the Regional Director will identify and drive new research, training and implementation initiatives to address needs where the capabilities and resources of CABI can add value through problem solving and capacity building.
Candidates should be qualified to at least degree level in an appropriate scientific discipline and have substantial experience in the application of life sciences. A successful track record of developing, costing, securing and managing externally-funded research, training and implementation projects is also essential. In additional having a strong technical background though, candidates should have communication, networking and influencing skills to quickly establish credibility with colleagues, partners and clients alike. Fluent in English and ideally Spanish, a knowledge of Portuguese, French or Dutch would also be welcomed.
This role may be filled on secondment from a member country, from the corporate sector or from other large international development organisations.
