Galapagos Coastal Monitoring Specialist, Galapagos Island- Santa Cruz - Puerto Ayora
This position with the Charles Darwin Foundation for the Galapagos Islands (CDF) is responsible for development and implementation of a statistically rigorous monitoring program for the coastal zone of the Galapagos Archipelago. It is expected that the incumbent will work closely with the Galapagos National Park Service, scientific collaborators, and Foundation staff to implement a program with clearly defined objectives, an explicit sampling design, and modern monitoring techniques that will allow the detection of spatial and temporal variation in populations of coastal organisms. To develop an integrated program, existing monitoring programs for coastal vertebrates and sub-tidal invertebrates will need to be reviewed and improved. The incumbent will develop and maintain well documented protocols and databases and present results in technical reports and scientific papers. Candidates with experience working in Latin America will be given preference.
Selection process will begin on April 30, 2008, but applications that arrive after this date will be reviewed until the position is filled.
