The Ibero-American Conference of Geographic Information Systems (CONFIBSIG) is

teaching, governance and business development under particular geotechnologies
with emphasis on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In this sense, it aims to
have a space for discussion and presentation of studies and novel applications
in these areas.

The first Ibero-American Conference of Geographic Information Systems was held
in Costa Rica in July, 1987, and since then there have been 12 editions of the
event every two years in Venezuela, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Spain and
Puerto Rico. The themes of the events have focused mainly on Atlas and
cartographic issues, remote sensing, design and GIS applications, as well as
other innovative themes under geotechnological progress that have been
