Geographic information systems manager, Washington, DC
Chemonics seeks a geographic information systems (GIS) manager to advise on appropriate use of GIS for supporting the planning, monitoring, and reporting of their projects around the world. Responsibilities include: advise, train, and mentor Washington and field staff in the use of GIS, including scale, hardware and software, staffing, and cost; promote integration of GIS with project planning, monitoring, evaluation, and communication practices and systems; lead the collection and management of GIS data assets, outputs, and experience from the field; document and share best practices and innovations in GIS, planning, monitoring, and reporting.
Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred; or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum four years of relevant experience working with GIS technology
Minimum two years of experience in planning, monitoring, or management of USAID or other international development projects
Knowledge of and experience with a variety of GIS hardware and software tools
Experience training or mentoring others in the use of GIS, including hardware and software, in international development or a related field
Experience creating and maintaining geo-referenced data in various formats
Experience living or working in developing countries
Foreign language proficiency preferred
Willingness to travel and work abroad a minimum of four to eight weeks per year
Permanent U.S. work authorization required
