Carrier Sekani Tribal Council to develop Aboriginal world-view mapping system
June 27 2007: In association with GeoConnections, the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council (CSTC) and a number of other partners are collaborating in the development of a set of tools that will apply Aboriginal world-views in decision making regarding land and natural resource planning. This project will build upon strategies and applications developed through the Tsilhqot'in Stewardship Planning Portal, a current GeoConnections co-funded project. The new project will use the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI) to enable the aggregation of Carrier and Sekani traditional knowledge for use by the CSTC and member First Nation decision-makers.
